This new offering provides healthcare professionals a safe and easy way to scan bar codes in a hospital or clinic.  The Memor X3 HC is lightweight, pocketable, extremely durable, and resistant to the major chemical cleaners used in the healthcare ecosystem. This mobile computer is equipped with an advanced 2D imager and features Datalogic’s patented ‘Green Spot’ technology for good-read feedback.

The device has a sharp 2.4 inch display and long-lasting batteries, all in a form factor and weight that makes it a truly portable assistant for any healthcare application. It offers enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity with IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n, supporting higher WLAN throughputs with improved reliability in both 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz bands. The Memor X3 HC mobile computer is a rugged device featuring IP54 sealing with a 1.2 m / 4.0 foot drop to concrete specification and is pre-loaded and pre-licensed with Wavelink Avalanche Device Management making it ready to deploy out of the box.

ID TECH and Worldnet Achieve EMV Certification Through First Data

idtech.comID TECH and Worldnet combine to provide EMV chip-card acceptance to cloud-based merchants, unattended kiosk manufacturers, retailers, and mobile merchants have received EMV certification through First Data. The certification using the GoChip EMV SDK encompasses all the ID TECH’s products that incorporate the ID TECH Common Kernel.

GoChip supports traditional POS as well as iOS and Android operating systems for mobile and tablet POS merchants and is available for Windows Desktop, Apple OS, iOS, Android, Windows Mobile 8.1 and Java.

Biometric Associates’ 3000MP Reader Approved by DoD for Android

Biometric Associates baiMobile 3000MP Bluetooth Smart Card ReaderBiometric Associates, LP has announced that the baiMobile 3000MP Bluetooth Smart Card Reader has been approved for use with Android smartphones and tablets by the US Department of Defense. The baiMobile 3000MP is the first and only Bluetooth CAC/PIV reader to pass all NSA and DISA required Bluetooth security tests for Android devices.  DISA approval of the reader is documented in the DISA Mobility Security Technical Implementation Guide recently published.

In addition to the 3000MP Reader, the baiMobile solution also includes 1) middleware libraries, device drivers and APIs that are provided to developers enabling them to build smart card-enabled applications and 2) security files installed on the Android device to enforce Bluetooth security policies.

The baiMobile solution permits network or client applications residing on the Android device to access the credentials stored on the smart card to perform functions such as digitally signing and decrypting emails, and authenticating to secure web sites and network servers.

Datalogic Heron Scanners Deployment by Euro Garages

Datalogic has announced that Euro Garages, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned forecourt operators, is the first in the UK to roll out the Heron HD3100 barcode scanners.

Euro Garages, which had acquired 195 Esso sites in the UK from a series of sales that started in 2012, needed a barcode scanning solution at the point-of-sale that would integrate seamlessly with its Verifone chip and pin system. “We looked at a number of options before choosing the Datalogic device,” comments Guy Bickerstaffe, Regional Manager at Euro Garages. “The Heron barcode scanner, which was the only device that was compatible with our Verifone chip and pin system, enables us to scan a customer’s loyalty card to award Tesco’s Clubcard points.”

Honeywell Acquires Movilizer, Leader in Simplifying Operations for Remote Connected Workers

logosHoneywell has completed its acquisition of privately held Movilizer, which created one of the world’s first cloud platforms for field service applications. Movilizer is used by remote workers performing service or maintenance, sales and distribution, and warehousing activities away from the office. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Movilizer’s cloud software enables a distributed workforce to create, deploy and manage workflow solutions – whether at the point of sale, in the field, in a warehouse or distribution center. Datalogic Discontinues the QuickScan QD2110 and QD2130

With the introduction of advanced technology in recent new QuickScan product launches, Datalogic has announced the obsolescence of their QuickScan QD2100 scanner series.

To replace this older model, Datalogic highly recommends migrating customers to the QuickScan QD2131 linear imagers. Datalogic will be able to deliver a better price performance product to meet customer needs with the newer QD2131 imager, just launched in September of last year.

The newer QuickScan QD2131 linear imager has improvements in the following features:

  • Longer Depth of Field (DOF)
  • Wider Field of View (FOV)
  • Longer, sharper and brighter scan line
  • Better look and feel (same as the QuickScan 2D QD2400)
