The University of Notre Dame Hesburgh Library is the home to over 3.3 million volumes, amongst the top 75 collections within all U.S. research universities. It serves over 14,000 students, faculty, and staff and has a circulation of 329,511. The IT Systems Analyst for the library came to Barcodes, Inc.  because their current barcode scanner did not scan barcodes well under the LED lights. Zebra’s fast and reliable ZXP Series 7 card printer will now offer a new enclosure lock option for applications requiring a secure printing environment.

A single key protects the printer and supplies from unauthorized use and locks the printer from several different access points:

• The feeder cartridge lid is locked to prevent unauthorized access to cards and the cartridge itself is locked to the printer.
• The options and ribbon cover are locked to prevent unauthorized access to the ribbon.
• If the lamination module is present, the laminator cover is locked to prevent access to the laminates.

The lock option is only available on new units and cannot be upgraded in the field.
