Socket Launches Competitively Priced 2D Apple Certified Barcode Scanner

Socket has announced the upcoming availability of a new addition to their 2D barcode scanning product line – the Socket Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) 7Qi, a small and sleek wireless barcode scanner for the Apple iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and iPod touch. The scanners also support Android and Windows devices. The new 7Qi has similar performance standards and features of Socket’s current ruggedized 2D barcode scanner, Model 7Xi, but uses the same colorful housing of our other CHS models. The 7Qi is attractively priced at an MSRP of $429 and Euros 393, making it highly competitive in the 2D scanning market.

Socket Mobile Announces Barcode Scanner Compatibility with Apple iOS 7

Socket has announced that their Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) Series 7 and Series 8 barcode scanners are both compatible with Apple iOS 7. The products’ seamless compatibility with the latest Apple devices underlies Socket’s commitment to supporting the latest smartphones and tablets used by businesses for retail point of sale, field sales and service, and other mobile applications.

As a member of the Apple Developer Program, Socket obtained a beta version of iOS 7 to successfully confirm compatibility with both the CHS barcode scanners and the SocketScan 10 Software Development Kit (SDK), which enables developers to embed support for both the CHS Series 7 and Series 8 into their applications. All current models of both the Series 7 and Series 8 are Apple MFi certified to support two-way communications with Apple iOS devices.

Applications compiled with the SocketScan 10 SDK will work with iOS 7. The SDK is available to members of the Socket Mobile Developer Program.

Code Announces Fully Integrated Wi-Fi Imaged-Based Bar Code Reader

Code announced plans to launch its newest offering; a fully integrated Wi-Fi image based bar code reader this spring. The technology will be added to the existing Code Reader 2600 (CR2600), which raised the industry bar for image based decoding and omnidirectional reading of both 1D and 2D bar codes when it launched in the fall of 2012. Garrett Russell, vice-president of marketing at Code stressed the clear benefits to users: “With the introduction of Code Wi-Fi readers, companies now have a long range option for added mobility, increased security and greater profitability”.

The Code Reader 2600 available in Bluetooth and now Wi-Fi versions give users the flexibility to select a mobile bar code reading solution that best fits their present and future needs.
