The Motorola DS4208 Helps Go Outdoors Improve the Customer Experience
Go Outdoors was faced with the challenge of wanting to provide a customer loyalty program but wanted to avoid using the traditional plastic card which are easy to forget and lose. With the ubiquity of smartphones today it only made sense to utilize an application that customers would always have on their phones.

Introducing Datalogic’s Powerscan DPM Imagers – PD9530-DPM and PD8590-DPM
Datalogic has introduced a new family of handheld area imagers specifically designed for applications based on codes printed with Direct Part Marking (DPM) technology. This new PowerScan family is a blend of the Datalogic experience with optical systems, hardware architecture, mechanical design and decoding software. Two different models are available allowing the customers to choose the best price/performance combination for their specific needs.
The PD9530-DPM imager has a standard illumination system and bases its reading capability on the decoding software. This imager offers great performance on a wide set of bar code types, but does not cover all DPM situations.
The PD8590-DPM imager is a highly specialized scanner with a multi-axis illumination system specifically designed for reading DPM technology. The reading performance relies on the combination of the decoding software and the illumination system. This imager can read all types of bar codes printed with DPM technology regardless of the type of surface involved.

Introducing Star’s New Receipt Printer the TSP650II
In continuing with its Always-Leading-Always Innovative corporate philosophy, Star Micronics is proud to announce the release of its latest thermal receipt printer, the TSP650II, which is replacing the TSP650.
Updated to exceed and further enhance one of Star’s most popular printers, the TSP650II boasts a lightning fast print speed of 60RPM (receipts per minute) (300mm/second). The TSP650II also features an improved Guillotine Cutter (2 million cuts), easy “drop in and print” paper loading and a small footprint.

Datamax-O’Neil Complements Its Stationary Printer Portfolio with Source Technologies Acquisition
Datamax-O’Neil has acquired the thermal printer assets of Source Technologies, a leading provider in specialized printing solutions based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Established in 1986, Source Technologies has specialized in secure MICR printing solutions, and will remain a strong entity in this market under new ownership. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“The addition of these new products into our already strong stationary printer portfolio positions us and our channel partners around the world to be more competitive and achieve greater market share,” said Paul Sindoni, president of Datamax-O’Neil. “This acquisition represents another step in our strategy to position ourselves as a global market and technology leader and clearly reflects our continued commitment to grow our strength within the industry and our partner community.”
