POS-X’s New ION TP5 All-in-One Point of Sale Terminal

POS-X has announced the availability of their new ION TP5 all-in-one terminals.  Designed for businesses large and small, the ION TP5 leverages the latest in tablet technology and quality build materials to produce an ultra-compact and cost-effective point-of-sale terminal.

Available in two versions, the standard ION TP5 or the ION TP5 with Integrated Printer, the ION TP5 comes standard with a TruFlat 14″ widescreen LCD display, multi-touch projected capacitive (PCAP) touchscreen, Intel quad-core processor, and solid state storage. Additional accessories include an integrated MSR and rear customer display.

Denso’s New BHT-1300 Series Windows Mobile Terminals

bht1300qDenso has announced their new BHT-1300B (1D) and BHT-1300Q(2D) wireless and batch handheld barcode terminals. The compact, lightweight devices feature the Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating system, along with a rugged design backed by a long, three-year warranty.

Denso’s Advanced Scan PlusTM CCD and area-imaging technology enable faster scanning than lasers. The 2-D models can read codes from any angle within 360 degrees, reducing working time by up to 30 percent. High-speed processors further increase operator efficiency.

Pre-installed software includes a keyboard interface application, wireless setting tool, application launcher and backup tool. Full Windows Embedded Compact 7 software development kits are available to allow creation of additional applications.

The buzz is leading many businesses to explore new uses for tablet computers, and some are finding their way into evaluation trials on forklifts and other vehicle applications in the distribution center. With their large screens and available Windows operating systems, tablets can seem quite similar to the forklift-mounted computers that are widely used today. They can also be taken off the forklift and used on the floor, which some organizations find intriguing.

However, tablets should not be considered drop-in replacements for purpose-built forklift mounted terminals because there are several major differences between the product categories.
