With the merger, Barcodes, Inc. expands its presence into Canada and adds to its North American field sales and integration capabilities.

Barcode Hair?

While barcodes are a crucial tool for trade and commerce, they have also sneaked their way into cultural norms as well. From being used as props in sci-fi films to barcode tattoos, the humble barcode has become such a commonplace item that it is only natural it has become an object of popular culture.

Probably one of the funniest uses of the term barcode comes from Japan. “Barcode hair” is a commonly used term to describe a balding gentleman that comes over his hair. As you  can see in the image, barcode is the first thing to come to mind. Not the most endearing term but definitely descriptive.

I wonder if a 2D imager could read this?

Cortec Group Announces the Acquisition of BarcodesInc

Cortec Group, a New York based private equity firm which invests in middle-market distribution, healthcare, consumer, and specialty products and service businesses, announced that on November 2, 2012 its affiliate, Cortec Group Fund V, L.P. , acquired Barcodes Inc in partnership with management. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Barcodes is a leading distributor of automatic identification capture (“AIDC”) products, selling primarily to small and medium-sized businesses and select Fortune 500 customers. The Company’s AIDC products, which include barcode scanners, mobile computers, label printers, point-of-sale systems, identification cards, RFID equipment, and other related consumable products, allow customers to improve productivity and profitability in their businesses.
