Aerohive’s High Performance AP550 802.11ac Wave 2 Dual-Radio 4×4:4 MIMO Access Point

Posted April 12, 2017

Aerohive AP550 Access Control SystemAs Wi-Fi capabilities constantly improve, having the right access point to meet your current and future network needs is crucial. Many bandwidth-hungry critical business applications are accessed over wireless networks; Wi-Fi infrastructures are expected to provide required speed and capacity, and user experience is measured beyond jitter and latency. Number and types of mobile devices that are connecting to Wi-Fi is exponential, and large numbers of new devices that do not require human intervention are joining wireless networks every day.

The Aerohive AP550 is an excellent choice to provide instant adaption to ever-changing capacity and density needs. AP550 features 4×4:4 MU-MIMO with aggregate data rates up to 3.46 Gbps per access point. Software configurable radio allows IT managers to enable dual 5GHz 802.11ac performance on both radios to provide the best of coverage and capacity Wi-Fi design and maximize ROI. Built-in BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) radio enables proximity, indoor location tracking, and other location-based mobile engagement services.

Key Features

  • Software selectable radio allowing either two 5 GHz 802.11a/n/ac radios (for High Density-High Capacity deployments) or concurrent 802.11a/n/ac and 802.11b/g/n radios
  • Full 4×4:4 Wave 2 802.11ac MU-MIMO and dual 5 GHz performance
  • Built-in Bluetooth Low Energy for iBeacon and other beacon technologies
  • IoT readiness with USB port for other wireless technologies to connect seamlessly

Zebra Brings Modern Wi-Fi to Moscow’s Gorky Park

Posted March 23, 2016

Motorola AP 6562 Access PointMoscow’s Gorky Park has recently deployed a wireless network solution from Zebra to enable thousands of visitors to the park to simultaneously access wireless connectivity for a first-class visitor experience. The new Wi-Fi infrastructure replaces a legacy network which was failing to meet the latest requirements across the parterre section of the Park and cope with bring-your-own-device (BYOD) demand. The new wireless network provides robust security and delivers reliable, seamless coverage of the 68.9 hectare park.

Utilizing AP6562 access points across outdoor and indoor locations in the park, Zebra WiNG architecture was installed to provide a quality Wi-Fi service based on the number of mobile clients in different areas across the park. The design support for thousands of mobile devices allows visitors to use enterprise-grade Wi-Fi at an almost unlimited speed in both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands through a distributed WiNG architecture which prevents bottlenecks or connection losses. Visitors experience seamless high-speed Wi-Fi roaming on a secure network that protects their devices and the entire network from hacking. As a result, visitors to the Gorky Park can use a variety of online resources and social media as well as high-bandwidth applications like YouTube and Skype with confidence.
