Seiko Instruments introduces the New MP-B20 a Two Inch Mobile Printer

Posted August 28, 2017

mp-b20The MP-B20 is a compact and lightweight two-inch mobile printer. Brought to you by Seiko Instruments, this sleek and stylish mobile printer still offers the ability to print high-resolution receipts at more than 3 inches per second. A lightweight printer that weighs less than 1 pound with the battery pack. The lightweight design does not affect its ruggedness as it can withstand drops of up to 5 feet. The ruggedness makes the MP-B20 perfect for multiple work environments from hospitality to retail to healthcare to warehousing where ruggedness plays a key role.

“As today’s consumers and end users are looking for a more digitally oriented lifestyle that fits a diverse set of needs, it was only fitting to develop an additional option as the follow-up to the MP-A40 mobile printer,” said Yoshi Murakami, General Manager, Seiko Instruments USA Thermal Printer Division. “Similar to the MP-A40, the MP-B20 was developed to capture a diverse mix of vertical markets looking to add ease of use at a more compact level, specifically in mobile-driven environments like “Pay-at-the-Table” and line-busting applications.”

Global Technology Systems Introduces Battery Color Coding

Posted July 24, 2017

How old is the battery in your mobile computer? Some can’t answer that question and in that lies the problem. The greater the age in batteries the greater the chance of the battery not functioning properly; that being said it makes sense to have an easy way to distinguish the age of your battery. Global Technology Systems (GTS) is introducing Battery Color Coding, this service will allow you to easily distinguish the aging of your battery population and quickly determine the warranty status of your batteries. More importantly it will also allow you to identify, replace, and recycle the old batteries swiftly and efficiently. Each year GTS will be making different color batteries along with the standard OEM color. For example in 2017 (year 1) GTS will be making blue batteries, in 2018 (year 2) GTS will be making green batteries, in 2019 (year 3) GTS will be making pink batteries and so on. The colored batteries will have no additional cost from the standard OEM color.

gts

Battery Color Coding will give you the following benefits:

  • Cut Labor Costs: Eliminates staff downtime and productivity loss caused by mid-shift battery failures.
  • Cut Battery Costs: Stock only healthy batteries in the appropriate quantities.
  • Cuts Service Agreement Costs: Many mobile device “failures” aren’t a device problem at all but a bad battery issue, allowing you to significantly reduce repair requests and help desk calls.

Battery-Free Cordless Scanning with Honeywell

Posted June 22, 2017

bfscannersWireless scanners have become commonplace in many retail environments for the convenience they provide by removing a cable from the picture. All cordless scanners have a battery in them that is often the main point of wear on the device and requires several hours to fully charge on many models.  It may seem that the battery is an unavoidable consequence of being wireless but Honeywell is leading the way towards a more environmentally friendly scanner that also requires less maintenance long term.

Shedding the traditional battery pack, Honeywell has introduced their Super-Capacitor technology on their Xenon 1902g-bf and Voyager 1202g-bf scanners. Super-Capacitors are capable of achieving a full charge in less than two minutes via the standard USB port or under 30 seconds when using a powered USB port or external wall adapter. After a quick charge the Voyager 1200g-bf can scan at least 100 codes while the Xenon 1902g-bf can read at least 450 codes.

This sort of quick and easy charging feature makes these scanners ideal for applications centered around POS, workstations and counters – for example, as the secondary scanner to a bioptic (in-counter) scanner, or in support of shipping and receiving functions at warehouses. With no battery, a common maintenance hassle is removed and the scanner is lighter and more environmentally friendly.

Both scanners are built on the proven Voyager and Xenon platform offering superior scanning performance on linear and 2D barcodes respectively. With multiple-interface options, these scanners are plug-in-player ready to start inputting scanned data into any application.
