Apex and S2000i Printers Bring Diversity into Datamax-O’Neil’s Mobile Printer Family

Datamax-O’Neil, part of Dover Corporation’s Product Identification Platform and global provider of label and receipt printing solutions, announces that it has integrated the former Extech Apex and S2000i printers into its printer portfolio, and the rebranded printers are now available to the company’s worldwide partner network. The Apex and S2000i printers expand the range of applications where the company’s mobile printers have been successful and will provide new opportunities for growth in the increasingly mobile global workforce.

“The Apex and S2000i printers bring tremendous diversity into the Datamax-O’Neil portable printer family and will expand our ability to sell products in applications where our existing line might not have been the perfect fit,” said Paul Lehmann, director of product management for Datamax-O’Neil. “The existing Datamax-O’Neil portables are known throughout for their industry-leading rugged reliability, and the Apex and S2000i printers bring a value element that will appeal to customers that demand ease of operation, reliability and low cost, but don’t require the extremely rugged characteristics needed for certain applications.”

The Apex portable printer family is a full-featured portable direct thermal receipt printer designed for various job environments including field service, field sales, public services, hospitality and mobile POS. The printers are light weight, compact, easy to use, and are available in 2, 3 and 4 inch receipt capabilities. The Apex 2 and Apex 3 printers are available with serial and Bluetooth® as standard communication interfaces. The Apex 4 is offered with USB and Bluetooth as standard. An 802.11 b/g communication interface is available as an option for the Apex series printers. A high capacity, long lasting battery with easy charging options and simple drop-in paper system increases the productivity of mobile workers. Three grades of receipt paper have been tested and qualified as Datamax-O’Neil Certified Supplies. The paper grades (Standard – quality and economy, Premium – darker, crisper images, and Long-Life – 25-year guarantee) will meet the business requirements for nearly all applications.

The S2000i is a compact 2-inch dot matrix printer with serial/IrDA communication interfaces. The impact printer can be operated from an industry standard five cell metal hybrid battery cartridge or from an AC power adapter, adding greater flexibility for mobile applications. Options to add Bluetooth for wireless communication or a magnetic card reader option are available for POS applications. The S2000i is a great solution when the lowest cost, ultra permanent receipts are required, or when “multiple original” receipts are needed. It can easily be worn on a shoulder strap or belt loop and tough enough to handle busy 12 hour shifts.

Datamax-O’Neil is also in final development of several new portable printers that were acquired from the assets of Extech Instruments Data Systems Division. These printers will include the Andes 3, a 3-inch heavy duty receipt/label printer with extra large paper capacity and numerous communication interfaces. Also included will be the S2100THS and S4100THS, 2-inch and 4-inch ultra lightweight receipt printers that are highly affordable and offer a broad range of options for mobile applications. Both the Andes 3 and S2100/S4100THS will be available in July.
