Metrologic Selects Wavelink’s Device Management and Terminal Emulation for its Windows-based OptimusPDA

Posted June 4, 2008

Partnership delivers ruggedized mobile computing solution with industry-leading performance and support

Blackwood, New Jersey – June 3, 2008 — Wavelink Corporation and Metrologic Instruments today announced that Metrologic has selected Wavelink™ Emulators and Avalanche Mobility Center™ software for its SP5700 OptimusPDA mobile computer. This strategic agreement brings the number of mobile device manufacturers pre-licensing and/or pre-loading Wavelink software to more than a dozen.

Metrologic is a global supplier of data capture solutions for industries including retail, professional services, transportation and healthcare. With the introduction of its first Windows-based mobile computer, Metrologic will ship each OptimusPDA with Wavelink software already installed on the device and ready for activation by the customer. This gives Metrologic customers access to industry leading software for managing devices and connecting them to host systems.

“In developing the OptimusPDA, we focused on delivering a device that would be easy for customers to pick up and realize immediate productivity and efficiency benefits,” said Mark Schmidt, Metrologic’s vice president of marketing and product management. “OptimusPDA supports advanced wireless technologies, uses a familiar Microsoft® Windows-based platform and now ships with the management tools that are familiar to most of our customers. Incorporating Wavelink’s comprehensive emulation and device management products into the OptimusPDA allows us to deliver one of the lightest and most feature-rich mobile computers in the industry.”

Wavelink President Lamar Van Wagenen added, “We are excited to strike this partnership with Metrologic and look forward to working closely with them on providing products that help mobile professionals increase their productivity and ROI. This agreement further strengthens our position as the industry standard as Wavelink software ships on more mobile devices than all of our competitors combined.”

The Metrologic SP5700 OptimusPDA will begin shipping later this month with Wavelink Emulators and Avalanche Mobility Center.
