Datalogic’s New Powerscan PD9500 Area Imager Family

The PowerScan 9500 family of imagers represent the new 2D handheld area imagers with rugged mechanics for industrial applications. This new PowerScan imager is a blend of the Datalogic experience with optical systems, hardware architecture, mechanical design and decoding software. An intuitive and effortless scanning experience is the target of the 9500 family. It combines omnidirectional reading capabilities, which is typical in all area imaging scanners, with outstanding optical characteristics.

In addition, the PowerScan PD9500 area imager includes Datalogic’s latest decoding software that guarantees snappy reading in any condition and environment. The result is a scanner with exceptional performances in terms of snappiness and depth-of-field on any kind of bar code, regardless of the orientation, from contact to over 1.0 m / 3.3 ft, depending on the bar code resolution.

Like the previous PowerScan family, the new 9500 imagers offer the 3GL (Three Green Lights) technology, a combination of Datalogic’s patented ‘Green Spot’ technology and dual ‘good read’ LED’s. The 3GLtechnology provides a clear visual indication for a successful read no matter how noisy the environment is or where the code is located (in hand, on the shelf or on the floor).

User comfort is guaranteed because of the scanner ergonomics, consisting of the handle shape, a well-balanced weight and the intuitive aiming system, allowing the highest first-pass reading rate while reducing unnatural wrist movement or rotation which can tire the user during long shifts. Additionally, the PowerScan 9500 area imager uses a soft-pulsed white illumination light resulting in reduced flashes, which is very gentle on the eyes and less troublesome to the operator during scan-intensive applications.

The PowerScan PD9500 imager features Datalogic’s Motionix motion-sensing technology which detects the natural actions of the operator to automatically switch on the aimer when the scanner is handled by the user. Aiming on the bar code becomes easy and fast without the need of any action on the trigger.

The new PowerScan PD9500 imager is targeted to be the most suitable solution for all applications in Warehousing, Transportation & Logistics and Manufacturing where the bar code is at ‘handy distance’ (within 1 m / 3.3 ft) regardless of whether it is 1D or 2D bar code. The omnidirectional reading capability combined with the snappiness and the depth-of-field allows the PowerScan PD9500 imager to be faster and therefore, a preferred solution over laser scanners and represent their natural replacement.
