Datalogic Magellan 9800i – Barcode Scanner – Corded – 2D – Cable Only

The Magellan 9800i is a high-performance 2D imaging scanner that reads both 1D and 2D barcodes. It autodiscriminates all standard 1D codes including GS1 DataBar linear codes, and supports 2D codes such as Aztec Code, Data Matrix, QR Code, and Micro QR. The scanner also decodes stacked codes including EAN/JAN Composites, GS1 DataBar Composites, PDF417, and MicroPDF417, making it ideal for diverse retail and logistics environments.

Yes, the Magellan 9800i is specifically designed as the world's first barcode scanner driven completely by high-performance digital imaging to increase checkout performance in the world's busiest checkout environments. Its state-of-the-art imaging technology and high reliability are engineered to provide maximum throughput for both 1D and 2D barcodes in demanding retail settings. Contact us today to learn how this scanner can optimize your checkout operations.

The Magellan 9800i features multiple interface options including USB, RS-232, and IBM 46XX multi-interface support. It includes powered auxiliary ports for remote scale display, EAS controller connections, and two powered USB Host (Type A) ports. The scanner comes with a USB cable and US standard power brick included, making it easy to integrate into existing retail systems. We offer this scanner ready to connect to your infrastructure.

The Magellan 9800i operates reliably in temperatures from 10 to 40°C (50 to 104°F) with humidity levels between 5-95% non-condensing. It features robust ESD protection rated at 25kV air discharge and handles ambient light conditions from 0 to 86,080 lux, ensuring consistent performance in various retail lighting conditions. The scanner's durable construction makes it suitable for high-traffic checkout environments.

Unlike conventional laser scanners, the Magellan 9800i uses advanced digital imaging technology rather than laser diodes, enabling superior performance on both 1D and 2D barcodes without the limitations of laser-based systems. This imaging approach provides better read rates on damaged or poor-quality barcodes and supports a wider range of barcode formats. The technology delivers higher throughput and reliability specifically optimized for demanding retail checkout environments.

Yes, the Magellan 9800i includes comprehensive remote management capabilities with diagnostic reporting and support for WMI (OPOS and JavaPOS) and MBeans (JavaPOS) compliance. It supports host download functionality and integrates with IBM Director, Wavelink Avalanche, and other ERP management solutions, allowing IT teams to monitor and manage the scanner remotely.
