Guest We are looking to see if we can implement a bar code system, possibly on ID cards, to record which students are eating meals at the schools so that we can send an accurate invoice to their parents at the end of the month.

Using bar codes on ID cards is a very common means to track usage with a simple bar code scanner. The Zebra QuickCard ID Solution is a kit that includes a card printer, software, and media to create a basic ID card with a bar code. Once created and issued we can use a scanner like the Motorola LS9208i which the students can scan as they pick-up a lunch. This scanner would be connected to a PC collecting all the ID numbers each day. This data can them be compiled to know the total meals eaten by each student.
