We currently use Datamax M Class Mark II Barcode printers in our sterilization department.

The problem is the steam from the autoclave (275 Deg.) causes the ink to smear and then we can't scan the bar code.

275 degrees is fairly high for most standard labels and ribbons to withstand but the M-Class printers can print on a wide range of materials. In this case I would suggest using a polyester label paired with a high temp resin ribbon. This combination will handle the higher temperatures without any smudging or smearing issues.
