Guest I am looking for a mobile software solution to serve convenience stores. I would like a sales person to go into a store, identify the store with a store ID, scan items on shelves and key in a quantity. When they are done with the order they can then submit it via cellular to the office system. I would like an ASCII text file with Customer#, Item # and Qty in a CVS format to be transmitted.

In the case of in the field data collection I would first suggest a suitable mobile computer to fit your needs. The Motorola MC65 is a compact device with built-in bar code scanner and supports any cellular carrier you would want to use. At the most simple level you could be scanning and inputting data directly into an Excel sheet which the user would then email over once completed with the customer. Being a mobile computer though, the MC65 allows us to create a customized application or even web-based solution to make data collection even easier in the field.
