Guest I am retiring and dismantling my library. I would like to find a simple & inexpensive yet efficient way to scan them and find out which books would be worth selling which books I should just donate to the library.

The simplest solution will be a tethered scanner like the Honeywell 3800g. This unit plugs into your PC via USB and acts like a keyboard input. You could pull up an online resource like Amazon and scan the codes into the web page directly. This would allow you to look up the specific books you have to see what value they have.
