I am developing a community-wide rewards program and need a way to read a unique numbered card, enter additional information on a numeric keypad, and then send that information over the Internet to our database.

For a truly mobile solution I would look at the Motorola MC65. This device has a built-in scanner to read a bar code off of the card and also has cellular capabilities to allow you to have web access anywhere. You can easily call up a page online and enter data into with the scanner or keypad. This site or web application could then transmit data into your database in real-time. We can also help provide custom programming if needed to facilitate your mobile application.
