Guest I am establishing a business plan for a local transportation service in Wisconsin and am interested in mobile technology that utilizes either bar code reading (membership cards and bus passes) or credit cards. At this time, I do not believe credit cards are a viable option due to the small charges incurred- $3.00 per ride.

Bar coded membership cards can easily be implemented and track with a variety of mobile scanning devices. Depending on your application you may be able to use a handheld mobile computer like the MC75A to scan cards and collect data in the field which could even be transmitted in real-time to a remote location via cellular technologies.
