I am a small wholesaler that goes out to retailers. I need a bar code scanner that I can relay information to a laptop and printer to print an invoice and an itemized inventory sheet. I would probably need software for the laptop. I’m a complete novice when it comes to computers but I know there has to be a solution to my problem.

There are a host of cordless scanners like the Motorola LS4278 that we can use with any Windows laptop to transmit scanned data. As for software I would suggest Intuit Quickbooks POS Pro to allow you to make an invoice and receipt for your customers in the field. This software can readily run on a laptop and can interface with a variety of receipt printers.
