Guest I manage a flea market with 650 spaces and am looking for a way to check in the vendors quickly and accurately. I think a wireless handheld scanner and a bar coded receipt and/or ID is the way to go, but am not sure which is the best hardware. We would need something with range, since the office has to be at some distance from the entrance to the grounds — about 100 yards or so.

What you are looking for is essentially a time and attendance tracking system. We have several options to do this and using a mobile computer like the MC55A is a great option. This would allow you to work in a batch mode or in real-time wirelessly. We can also help you print bar coded labels or ID cards for the vendors with printers from Zebra.
