Industry Need<\/h3>\n

Modern life sciences commonly require long term preservation of biological material;\u00c2\u00a0cryogenic processing and storage provides a means to this end. With a large quantity of\u00c2\u00a0small samples in storage, accurate tracking is critical. Barcoded labels<\/a> (with linear or 2D\u00c2\u00a0symbols) are the preferred method, but the extreme environmental stresses can cause\u00c2\u00a0failure with standard media.<\/p>\n

Cryogenic conditions have become commonplace in multiple applications, ranging from\u00c2\u00a0pharmaceutical processing to lyophilization of vaccines. Cryopreservation of tissues and\u00c2\u00a0cell suspensions in small vials provides its own set of challenges, requiring conformability\u00c2\u00a0to small diameter surfaces and adhesion to low surface energy plastics such as\u00c2\u00a0polypropylene and polyethylene. Increasingly common cryogenic shipping of vaccines,\u00c2\u00a0tissues, and medicines in liquid nitrogen with temperatures as low as -112\u00c2\u00b0F \/-80\u00c2\u00b0C now\u00c2\u00a0subjects a greater range of barcoded items to these stresses.<\/p>\n

Printed with the Intermec TMX3000 series ribbon<\/a>, bar codes and human readable text\u00c2\u00a0have excellent abrasion durability, providing superior readability through extensive manual\u00c2\u00a0and automated handling and centrifugation. The rugged label system offers excellent\u00c2\u00a0moisture resistance for water bath processing. Printed images survive typical contact with\u00c2\u00a0common lab solvents and cryoprotectants such as DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide).<\/p>\n
