The battery appears to &#8220;remember&#8221; the smaller capacity.<\/li>\n<li>High self-discharge rate.\u00c2\u00a0 NiMH batteries lose their charge as they sit.<\/li>\n<li>It takes longer to charge them.<\/li>\n<li>Cannot operate at extreme temperatures. At extreme temperatures, NiMH voltage output will drop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Advantages of NiMH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cheaper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Advantages of Li-Ion:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Smaller and lighter.<\/li>\n<li>Faster recharge.<\/li>\n<li>Minimal discharge when not in use.<\/li>\n<li>Temperature tolerance. It can tolerate low temperature and warmer environments compared to NiMH cells.<\/li>\n<li>It is not susceptible to voltage depression, aka memory effect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more-->The standard warranty period for these NIMH batteries is 30 days.\u00c2\u00a0 It is important to understand the impact on total cost of ownership.\u00c2\u00a0 For example, a Li-Ion battery warranty from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/honeywell\/\">Honeywell<\/a> is 1 year!<\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s also not easy to replace these batteries.\u00c2\u00a0 From one of the scanner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s user\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s guide:<\/p>\n<p>The battery is installed in the cordless digital scanner by the factory and resides in a chamber in the digital scanner handle.<\/p>\n<p>To replace the battery:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Insert a Phillips screwdriver in the screw at the base of the digital scanner, then turn the screw counterclockwise to release the latch.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the latch.<\/li>\n<li>If a battery is already installed, turn the digital scanner upright to slide the battery out.
