{"id":12806,"date":"2016-07-11T07:31:11","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T13:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/news\/?p=12806"},"modified":"2016-11-14T09:09:12","modified_gmt":"2016-11-14T15:09:12","slug":"honeywells-presentation-mode-for-scanners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/news\/honeywells-presentation-mode-for-scanners\/","title":{"rendered":"Honeywell&#8217;s Presentation Mode for Scanners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/honeywell\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13141\" src=\"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/honeywell_metrologic_fusion_scanner_on_retail_pos_counter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"293\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/honeywell_metrologic_fusion_scanner_on_retail_pos_counter.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/honeywell_metrologic_fusion_scanner_on_retail_pos_counter-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/honeywell_metrologic_fusion_scanner_on_retail_pos_counter-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 293px) 100vw, 293px\" \/><\/a>Presentation mode gives customers the ability to scan barcodes without having to squeeze any triggers.\u00c2\u00a0 You \u00e2\u20ac\u0153present\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the barcode to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/honeywell\/honeywell-barcode-scanners.htm\">scanner<\/a> and it scans.\u00c2\u00a0 Presentation mode uses ambient light and scanner illumination to detect barcodes.<\/p>\n<p>There are two types of Presentation Modes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Presentation Mode.\u00c2\u00a0 In this mode the scanner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s LEDs remain dim until a bar code is presented to the scanner.\u00c2\u00a0 When a barcode is presented &amp; detected the LEDs turn up, the aimer turns on, and the scanner scans the bar code.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 This mode tends to do a better job with bad barcodes.<\/li>\n<li>Streaming Presentation Mode:\u00c2\u00a0 The scanner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s LEDs remain fully on and the scanner is always scanning.\u00c2\u00a0 When a barcode is presented the aimer turns on and the barcode is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153scanned\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.\u00c2\u00a0 This mode tends to scan good barcodes faster.\u00c2\u00a0 In Streaming Presentation Mode there is even a Normal flavor and an Enhanced flavor.\n<ul>\n<li>Normal = Good scan speed and the longest working ranges.<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced = Fastest scan speed but less range.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><!--more-->Note:\u00c2\u00a0 For a Bluetooth scanner \u00e2\u20ac\u201c both Presentation Mode and Streaming Presentation Mode require an external power supply be plugged into the charge base \u00e2\u20ac\u201c not just the USB cable plugged into the host.\u00c2\u00a0 Exception being a host with a Power Plus USB connector.<\/p>\n<p>Another Note: And both of the above modes can be turned on by scanning their respective barcodes in your scanner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s user guide.<\/p>\n<p>Yet Another Note: \u00c2\u00a0The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barcodesinc.com\/honeywell\/1902h.htm\"> Xenon 1902h healthcare scanner<\/a> has hybrid \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Presentation Mode\/Hands Free Mode\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that is turned on by pressing the button on the scanner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s base station while the scanner is in the base. This mode turns on both the scanner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s LEDs and aiming beam.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 This mode can in most cases get away with just a USB cable plugged into a host for power, because it turns off after a preprogrammed period of time \u00e2\u20ac\u201c depending on how much scanning is involved.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom Line:\u00c2\u00a0 Presentation Mode vs Streaming Presentation Mode.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Go with Streaming Presentation Mode<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 For the best motion tolerance, LEDs need to be on all the time.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 If someone doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like the LEDs being on all the time then you can back them down to regular Presentation Mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you want to read barcodes off of cell phones in presentation mode there is a programming barcode titled \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Streaming Presentation &#8211; Mobile Phones\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.\u00c2\u00a0 That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll want to use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presentation mode gives customers the ability to scan barcodes without having to squeeze any triggers.\u00c2\u00a0 You \u00e2\u20ac\u0153present\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the barcode to the scanner and it scans.\u00c2\u00a0 Presentation mode uses ambient light and scanner illumination to detect barcodes.
