\"\"<\/a>There is a mode titled \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hand Held Scanning \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Mobile Phone\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that optimizes your scanner<\/a> to read bar codes from mobile phones and other LED displays.\u00c2\u00a0 It does this in part by flickering the LEDs.\u00c2\u00a0 Last week a business was having trouble reading barcodes off of his laptop so we told him to turn the feature on (by scanning the barcode).\u00c2\u00a0 And of course he stopped having trouble.\u00c2\u00a0 Note that you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have to have this feature on when scanning barcodes off of phones\/tablets<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It just helps the cause sometimes.<\/p>\n

I wanted to know what the impact was on scanning speed when scanning regular barcodes when this feature was turned on.\u00c2\u00a0 So I tested it.<\/p>\n

The results \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the Xenon 1900<\/a> is a little slower (about 15%) with this feature turned on.\u00c2\u00a0 That sounds like a lot but the difference in speed really isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t noticeable.\u00c2\u00a0 The Xenon still blows through my scanner board.<\/p>\n

So don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hesitate to use this feature if the application calls for it \u00e2\u20ac\u201c even if other barcodes are being scanned that aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t on a phone or a computer screen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
