Seiko Instruments introduces the New MP-B20 a Two Inch Mobile Printer

Posted August 28, 2017

mp-b20The MP-B20 is a compact and lightweight two-inch mobile printer. Brought to you by Seiko Instruments, this sleek and stylish mobile printer still offers the ability to print high-resolution receipts at more than 3 inches per second. A lightweight printer that weighs less than 1 pound with the battery pack. The lightweight design does not affect its ruggedness as it can withstand drops of up to 5 feet. The ruggedness makes the MP-B20 perfect for multiple work environments from hospitality to retail to healthcare to warehousing where ruggedness plays a key role.

“As today’s consumers and end users are looking for a more digitally oriented lifestyle that fits a diverse set of needs, it was only fitting to develop an additional option as the follow-up to the MP-A40 mobile printer,” said Yoshi Murakami, General Manager, Seiko Instruments USA Thermal Printer Division. “Similar to the MP-A40, the MP-B20 was developed to capture a diverse mix of vertical markets looking to add ease of use at a more compact level, specifically in mobile-driven environments like “Pay-at-the-Table” and line-busting applications.”

Posted September 12, 2013

Socket has announced that their Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) Series 7 and Series 8 barcode scanners are both compatible with Apple iOS 7. The products’ seamless compatibility with the latest Apple devices underlies Socket’s commitment to supporting the latest smartphones and tablets used by businesses for retail point of sale, field sales and service, and other mobile applications.

Applications compiled with the SocketScan 10 SDK will work with iOS 7. The SDK is available to members of the Socket Mobile Developer Program.

Automating Your Field Force : Consumer vs. Rugged

Posted May 2, 2012

Consumer vs. Rugged

As you consider a mobile deployment, you might assume that consumer grade mobile devices will more than meet your needs – but regardless of where your field workers spend the majority of their time, there are several reasons to give rugged handhelds, tablets and notebooks a second look.

Rugged devices are a good fit for more than just those users who anticipate extreme weather conditions or highly physical work environments, such as an oil rig or a combat zone.

For a field worker who visits several customer sites on a typical day, tossing a tablet or laptop onto the passenger seat every time he or she gets back into the car can cause gradual wear and tear that will quickly require that device to be replaced.

That device will also face temperatures of up to 130 or 140 degrees Fahrenheit if it’s left in the car on a summer day – so the ability to survive extreme temperatures should be a key consideration as well.
