Epson TM-T88V Awarded Japanese 2012 Good Design Award

Posted November 5, 2012

Epson has announced that its TM-T88V printer has been recognized in the Japanese 2012 Good Design Awards. The Epson receipt printer was commended for their contributions to lifestyle enriching design.

This compact receipt printer contains built-in POS terminal functions, and can be easily incorporated into small POS systems. This product, which was created with an eye to retailers using a cloud-based system, allows web printing and direct control of touch panels, barcode scanners, etc.

Judges’ comments: Displays and barcode scanners are important elements of POS systems in addition to the terminals and the printers. It’s essential for such products to be easy to use from the standpoint of both the retailer and the systems integrator, and must fit into retail environments of all types. We highly evaluate the way in which this product fulfills such requirements with a utilitarian, universal shape that efficiently combines two blocks into a single unit. Despite the difficulty in dealing with the two-block resin components, the product achieves a high level of design that includes attention to detail and a feeling of high precision.

Epson C3400 and Bartender Make the Perfect Match for Color Label Printing

Posted October 18, 2012

Most label printing is with just a single color and most of the time  just black. While this is a very cost efficient and easy means to create labels, some applications really need full color options.

One option is to go with pre-printed labels that have the color elements completed already so you then could just print in a single color.  This is not the easiest option to manage and all the color printed areas are static with each label.

Luckily there is the Epson C3400 printer and Seagull Scientific Bartender software.  This combo allows you to create fully customizable full color labels on-demand.  Print color labels quickly and easily, without sacrificing the power and flexibility you expect from a high-end solution. Print labels with full color photos, logos, almost any font and just about any barcode.

Epson Color Label Printers and BarcodesInc Help Improve Efficiency at Upco Inc

Posted October 3, 2011

Epson TM-C3400 SecurColorUpco Inc., located in Claremore, Oklahoma, has the second largest factory in the world for the production of sucker rods. Sucker rods join together the surface and downhole components of a reciprocating piston pump installed in an oil well. With a total capacity to produce over thirty million feet of sucker rods per year, Upco is the only domestic supplier of sucker rods owned by employees.

To improve the efficiency of the plant, Upco required a system to identify quickly and easily the grade the quality of scrap in their plant. Having 7 or more different grades, employees were required to read black only labels which could create confusion and potential errors.

To reduce the potent for errors, BarcodesInc of Chicago, IL recommended Upco purchase an Epson TM-C3400 SecurColor on-demand color label printer as well as recommended media for their application. To complete the solution, the Information Technology group in Upco wrote an application in Visual Basic to automatically select the correct color based on the grade of scrap and to print the label on the TM-C3400.

By adding a band of color, employees can easily identify the quality of the scrap, saving time, reducing errors and saving money.
