Zebra and Xplore Technologies corporation announced that their boards of directors have approved a definitive agreement in which Zebra will acquire Xplore.

XplorenetHere are 3 things you need to know about the acquisition:

  1.  Diverse Portfolio – Xplore has established a leading position as an innovative developer of the ultra- rugged tablets, laptops and a range of performance matched accessories. They are designed to withstand the demanding conditions across diverse end markets in oil & gas, manufacturing, military/ government, healthcare, public safety, transportation & logistics, and retail verticals. This is going to give Zebra a more diverse portfolio in rugged mobility.
  2. Leader in Data Capturing – With Zebra continuing to invest in their Enterprise Tablet category, this acquisition further solidifies Zebra’s position as the world leader in Enterprise Mobility.
  3. In-Process – Business is as usual for Zebra and Xplore until the acquisition is complete in Q3 2018.

Honeywell Expands Scanning And Mobility Portfolio With Acquisition Of Datamax-O’Neil

2014-12-23_1015Honeywell has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Datamax-O’Neil, a global manufacturer of fixed and mobile printers used in a variety of retail, warehouse and distribution, and health care applications, for $185 million. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015 subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory review.

The acquisition builds on Honeywell’s existing scanning and rugged mobile thermal printing products, and will extend that to include RFID, receipt, label and other specialty printing applications. This deal follows Honeywell’s 2013 acquisition of Intermec, which essentially doubled the company’s revenue in the highly attractive scanning and mobility segment.

Cortec Group Announces the Acquisition of BarcodesInc

Cortec Group, a New York based private equity firm which invests in middle-market distribution, healthcare, consumer, and specialty products and service businesses, announced that on November 2, 2012 its affiliate, Cortec Group Fund V, L.P. , acquired BarcodesInc in partnership with management. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Barcodes is a leading distributor of automatic identification capture (“AIDC”) products, selling primarily to small and medium-sized businesses and select Fortune 500 customers.
