Introducing The New Zebra EM220II

Zebra EM 220II Receipt PrinterThe growing adoption of smartphones and tablets around the globe is creating an increasing need for enterprise users to communicate and interact with Zebra printers—especially Zebra mobile printers—using the latest mobile technology. In response to this need, Zebra is announcing the next generation EM 220 mobile receipt printer—the EM220II.

The new EM220II supports Bluetooth and Wireless LAN connectivity to Apple, Android and Windows devices using Zebra’s extensive range of printer drivers and Software Development Kits (SDKs). In addition to the recently announced iMZ220 and iMZ320, the EM220II is Zebra’s second mobile printer product line to have the ‘Made for iPod, iPhone, iPad’ (MFi) certification.

Building on the positive attributes of the predecessor EM 220 product, the next generation EM220II provides the same small, pocket-sized convenience but at a more affordable price. This will be Zebra’s smallest, most affordable smartphone- and tablet-compatible printer to date.

While this may have been more true in the past with traditional laser scanners, recent advances in imaging technologies have brought expanded capabilities to scanners without increases in costs.

The same type of hardware that is being used for cameras in smartphones and tablets is also being used to make better barcode scanners. These new scanner types are called imagers since they are essentially capturing a picture of the barcode and then decoding it. Historically, imagers have been quite a bit more costly than a standard laser scanner but with new units like the Motorola LI2208, we now have imaging scanners at the same cost as a laser scanner.

Zebra’s Desktop Printers Are Now All Energy Star Certified

ENERGY STAR certification is awarded to printers that meet the Energy Consumption criteria specified by the EPA. This translates into approximately 10 percent less power consumption than a standard product and provides true cost savings for the end user. ENERGY STAR certification also means that Zebra printers are better for the environment.
