The Fargo C50 uses dye-sublimation and resin thermal transfer printing technology with a resolution of 300 dpi (11.8 dots/mm) continuous tone. This allows it to produce up to 16.7 million colors with 256 shades per pixel for high-quality, full-color ID cards.

Print speed on the Fargo C50 depends on the ribbon type used: 7 seconds per card for resin black only (K), 12 seconds for black with overlay (KO), 24 seconds for full-color (YMCKO), and 31 seconds for full-color with dual black panels (YMCKOK). These speeds are measured from when a card drops into the output hopper to when the next card drops.

The Fargo C50 accepts standard CR-80 cards (3.375" L x 2.125" W) and CR-79 adhesive back cards, with a print area of 3.36" L x 2.11" W for edge-to-edge printing. It supports card thickness from .009" to .040" (9 mil to 40 mil).

The Fargo C50 comes with built-in Swift ID badging software and the FARGO Workbench diagnostic utility for automatic printer health monitoring and maintenance. The Workbench includes Color Assist spot-color matching to ensure accurate color reproduction on your ID cards.

We offer multiple ribbon configurations including full-color with resin black and overlay (YMCKO, 250 prints), full-color half-panel (YMCKO, 350 prints), dual resin black panels (YMCKOK, 200 prints), resin black only (KO, 500 prints), and single-color options like resin or dye-sublimation black (1,000 prints). The C50 also supports rewrite technology that requires no ribbon.
