Datalogic M3551-010300 Barcode Scanner Overview
IN-COUNTER HIGH PERFORMANCE BAR CODE READER The Magellan™ 3500HSi series of scanners continue the Datalogic tradition of high performance imaging for the high-volume point-of-sale. By duplicating the speed and large field-of-view of laser scanners and expanding the capabilities of imaging, the 3500HSi scanners provide outstanding performance on hard-to-read bar codes and seamless reading of a wide variety of bar codes. This Magellan scanner enables both high speed sweep and presentation scanning techniques ensuring maximum productivity and ergonomic ease, even with truncated (shortened), out-of-spec or poorly printed codes.
ENHANCING THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE The optional Magellan Customer Service Scanner (CSS) enables retailers to easily engage their customers in mobile commerce programs, allowing them to scan bar codes from mobile phone screens or paper coupons while the cashier continues to scan regular items in parallel, resulting in a significant reduction in total transaction time. ENTERPRISE FEATURES Remote management is supported for OPOS, JavaPOS, Toshiba Remote Management with IBM Systems Director® and Wavelink® Avalanche®. Additional capabilities are available with the Value Added Features included in every Magellan scanner.
What barcode formats does the Datalogic M3551-010300 scanner read?
The Datalogic Magellan 3500HSi reads all standard 1D linear codes including GS1 DataBar formats, plus 2D codes such as QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec Code, and MaxiCode. It also decodes stacked codes including GS1 DataBar Composites, MicroPDF417, and PDF417, making it versatile for retail and warehouse applications. This broad decoding capability ensures compatibility with most barcode formats you'll encounter in high-volume point-of-sale environments.
Is the M3551-010300 suitable for reading damaged or poorly printed barcodes?
Yes, the Magellan 3500HSi is specifically designed to handle hard-to-read barcodes, including truncated (shortened), out-of-spec, and poorly printed codes. Its 2D imaging technology duplicates the speed and large field-of-view of traditional laser scanners while expanding imaging capabilities for superior performance on damaged or degraded barcodes. This makes it an excellent choice for warehouse and retail environments where barcode quality varies.
What connectivity options does this in-counter scanner support?
The M3551-010300 supports multiple interface connections including RS-232, USB, IBM 46xx, keyboard wedge, and OEM (IBM) USB options. It also features a powered RS-232 auxiliary port for additional flexibility in system integration. This multi-interface capability allows seamless integration with various POS systems and warehouse management platforms available from us.
What are the power requirements and operating temperature range?
The scanner operates on AC input of 90-264 VAC, 47-63 Hz with nominal power consumption of 2.8 watts during operation and 1.8 watts in sleep mode. It functions reliably in operating temperatures from 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F) and can be stored or transported at temperatures between -40 to 70°C (-40 to 158°F). This wide temperature range ensures stable performance in various retail and warehouse environments.
Can the M3551-010300 work with both sweep and presentation scanning techniques?
Yes, the Magellan 3500HSi enables both high-speed sweep scanning and presentation scanning techniques, providing maximum productivity and ergonomic flexibility for operators. This dual-mode capability means users can scan items by moving them across the scanner or by presenting items to the scanner window, accommodating different workflow preferences and reducing operator fatigue.
What mounting and cable options are included with this scanner?
The M3551-010300 is sold as a scanner-only unit, meaning the mount and required cable and/or power accessories are sold separately.
