What are the key wireless specifications of the HPE Aruba AP-518 Series?
The AP-518 Series delivers Wi-Fi 6 performance with a 4×4:4 MIMO configuration on 5 GHz and 2×2:2 on 2.4 GHz, supporting HE160 channels for up to 3 Gbps aggregate capacity. It leverages OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology to serve hundreds of simultaneous clients while minimizing interference through Aruba's ClientMatch roaming and cellular coexistence features. Contact us today to learn how this access point fits your enterprise wireless deployment.
Is the HPE Aruba AP-518 suitable for outdoor and harsh environments?
Yes, the AP-518 Series is engineered for demanding environments with an IP55-rated, dust- and water-resistant sealed chassis and built-in surge arrestors protecting all ports. It operates reliably across temperatures from –20 °C to +55 °C and humidity levels of 5–95% RH, making it ideal for outdoor deployments, warehouses, and industrial settings. We offer this ruggedized access point for installations where weather protection is non-negotiable.
What IoT and location services does the AP-518 provide?
The AP-518 integrates onboard Bluetooth 5 and Zigbee radios to create a turnkey IoT and indoor-location platform without requiring separate hardware. The Bluetooth 5 radio supports up to 8 dBm transmit power with –95 dBm receive sensitivity, while Zigbee offers up to 8 dBm transmit power with –97 dBm receive sensitivity. Additionally, Target Wake Time extends battery life for connected sensors and IoT devices.
What power and connectivity options are available for the AP-518?
The AP-518 features two 1 GbE PoE ports supporting 802.3af/at or 802.3bt (Class 4 or higher), one additional 1 GbE port, and a USB-C console interface for out-of-band management. It can be powered via PoE or 12 V DC with typical power draw of 18 W, and supports Link Aggregation (LACP) between network ports for redundancy and increased capacity. Visit barcodesinc.com to configure the power and connectivity setup that matches your infrastructure.
Can external antennas be used with the AP-518, and what mounting options are available?
The AP-518 features six RP-SMA external antenna connectors that accommodate high-gain directional or sector antennas for customized RF coverage patterns. It is compatible with optional mounting kits including AP-MNT-A/B/C/D/E and AP-MNT-MP10, with outdoor mounting adapters available for extended deployments. Contact us today to discuss antenna and mounting configurations for your specific site requirements.
How does the AP-518 compare to previous-generation Aruba access points?
The AP-518 Series represents Aruba's latest ruggedized Wi-Fi 6 platform, delivering significantly higher throughput and client density than earlier models through advanced OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology. It adds integrated Bluetooth 5 and Zigbee radios for IoT services, enhanced IP55 weather protection, and improved power efficiency with 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet support. We offer the AP-518 as the current standard for enterprises requiring both performance and environmental durability.
