Datalogic announced yesterday that it has signed a "binding contract" for the purchase of all the stock of PSC for approximately $195M dollars. For those of you that don't know, PSC is most famous for the Magellan supermarket scanner, while Datalogic is the leading supplier of barcode equipment in Europe.
All in all, this should be a good match, as Datalogic's US customer service and repair facilities have had problems in the past. Datalogic is very good at marketing, something which PSC could use some help on, when it comes to hand scanners.
But it remains to be seen whether the patented Datalogic green dot will show up in PSC products.
