The NetVanta1224STR PoE Switch from ADTRAN is a standards-based, non-blocking Layer 2 switching solution available at a cost up to 50 percent less than competing switches. This device is suitable for interconnecting LAN devices or for network segmentation in applications requiring Fast Ethernet or Power over Ethernet functionality. This lineup features the NetVanta 1224STR PoE unique, all-in-one access platforms that combine switch, router, modular WAN interface, and firewall in a single 1U chassis, with optional VPN and dial backup. The NetVanta 1224STR PoE platforms also provide standards-based 802.3af PoE functionality for powering IP phones, Wireless Access Points (WAPs), or other devices requiring LAN power.
Based on the ADTRAN Operating System (OS), these devices offer non-blocking Layer 2 switching functionality. An integral IP router provides cost-effective Internet access, corporate Frame Relay or point-to-point connectivity using routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and RIP.A single WAN access slot in the back of the NetVanta chassis supports a variety of Network Interface Modules (NIMs).
The ADTRAN OS offers a standard Command Line Interface (CLI) that mimics the widely deployed, industry de facto standard and an intuitive web-based GUI with step-by-step configuration wizards. For more comprehensive management of your NetVanta-based network, ADTRAN offers n-Command. This ADTRAN-designed network management system provides the ability to manage firmware revisions, push firmware upgrades and configuration changes, backup and restore configurations, and manage security policies and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
