Samsung SHR-5162 Surveillance DVR
Record 16 separate input channels
The Samsung SHR-5162 DVR is a standalone system that can record up to 120/100 images per second from 16 channels using MPEG-4 compression. It is able to simultaneously record-to and play-from a hard drive in real time by compressing the audio of 4 channels with ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation). Using dual codecs, the Samsung SHR-5162 DVR can smoothly record and transmit through a network, allowing continuous remote monitoring even in a poor network environment. The SHR-5162 also features an integrated DVD-RW drive.

Surveillance DVR Expertise
Specially designed digital video recorders (DVR's) have rapidly replaced the combination of time-lapse VCR's and multiplexers for recording video from multiple security cameras. Security DVR's are differentiated by their number of camera inputs (channels), video recording rate (measured in frames-per-second) and total storage capacity. Other features that distinguish security DVR's are their remote access capabilities, motion detection features, and video search tools.
