An ORM-D-AIR designates a product which has been specially packaged for shipment by air, while ORM-D designates it as packaged for ground transportation only. An ORM-D-AIR material is one which may be subject to DOT regulations but which presents a limited transportation hazard due to its form, quantity, and packaging. ORM-D-AIR materials are materials for which exceptions have been provided in the Hazardous Materials Regulations and which are consumer commodities.
